Title and Summary

Lead Regulatory Relations & Market Compliance Overview

Lead the Regulatory Relations & Market Compliance team assisting the business in demonstrating compliance with external stakeholder regulatory and contractual expectations in the Europe region. Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs and Technology teams to ensure Mastercard meets operational regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include answering customer questions, hosting onsite customer visits, and supporting regulatory inquiries and inspections in Europe.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead and support examinations by customers, regulators, technology, and security teams (e.g., on-site, virtual) in the European market; gather documentation and evidence demonstrating Mastercard's compliance and obligations.
  2. Respond to customer and regulatory inquiries, including mapping customer control domains to Mastercard controls using centrally maintained documentation.
  3. Assist business owners in creating and executing action plans in response to audit findings and compliance violations.
  4. Identify, analyze, and report on regulator and customer risk assessments, findings, and trends to internal stakeholders for action and follow-up.
  5. Support responses to customer requests, RFPs, and audits.

Job Specific Experiences

  • Degree in law, finance, business management, or IT-related fields.
  • 3-5 years of experience in IT, banking, payments, or FinTech sectors in roles such as Internal Audit, Risk Management, or Compliance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working cross-functionally to implement best practice risk processes.
  • Culturally aware, sensitive, and capable of collaborating with regional teams.
  • Team player with a strong business and operations focus.
  • Knowledge of Risk and Control Framework standards like SOC 1, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, ISO.
  • Understanding of laws, regulations, policies, and ethics related to technology, cybersecurity, and IT management, especially in payments (e.g., GDPR, DORA, NIS 2).
  • Strong IT technical knowledge, including emerging technologies and cybersecurity threats.
  • Knowledge of Mastercard products and risk management practices is a plus.
