Job description

Frithwood Surgery is a semi-rural practice with a list size of 7,000 patients and its own Dispensary. We are currently seeking a motivated, highly organized, and forward-thinking Lead Receptionist to join our friendly and dedicated team.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent IT, administrative, and communication skills. Flexibility to work additional hours to cover holidays and sickness may be required.

Experience in a healthcare environment and familiarity with SystmOne clinical software would be advantageous but is not essential. Previous experience managing a team or in a supervisory role is essential.

This position offers a unique opportunity, as our former Lead Receptionist will be available to support you as you learn the role and integrate with the team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

  • Undertake a variety of reception and administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
  • Lead the reception team, ensuring all duties are performed effectively and to the required standards, meeting practice objectives.
  • Compile staff rotas and implement efficient reception processes and procedures in compliance with legislation.
  • Assist and direct patients in accessing appropriate services or healthcare professionals courteously and efficiently.
  • Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive, friendly image to patients and visitors, in person and over the phone.
  • Support the Practice Administrator in managing an effective appointment system, optimizing appointments to ensure the best service delivery, and ensuring phones are answered promptly.
