Job summary

Telent Technology Services Ltd is seeking a Lead Quantity Surveyor to oversee the financial management of Rail projects within the Transport division. This hybrid role requires occasional travel to our Warwick office for meetings and collaboration, with flexibility to visit other sites as needed.

You will manage commercial performance, defend Telent’s commercial interests, and lead a team of Quantity Surveyors. ARICS/ACIOB and NEC/Oracle experience are essential.

• Experience as a Managing/Lead Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager in Rail/Telecoms/Utilities/Construction.
• Escalation point for QS queries and issues.
• ARICS or ACIOB qualification.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial performance against targets and KPIs.
• Protect Telent's commercial interests by securing prompt payment for work.
• Lead and develop the Quantity Surveying team; conduct one-to-ones and performance reviews.
• Attend site meetings and resolve commercial, contractual and technical issues.
• Prepare and deliver reports with the Project Manager by agreed deadlines.
• Support Projects Delivery team with financial/commercial obligations.
• Ensure compliance with policies, health and safety regulations, and quality standards.

Reporting to the Commercial Lead & Rail Director, the Lead Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the overall financial management of Rail projects within the Transport division of Telent. . A hybrid role that will require travel to our Warwick office approximately 1 day a week for meetings, team collaboration along with the flexibility to travel to other sites for meetings as required.

What you’ll do:

• Manage commercial performance against business targets and KPI's
• To be aware of and protect Telent's commercial interests by pursuing prompt payment for work executed.
• Experience of managing a team, conducting one-to-ones, performance reviews and people management activities.
• Supervising the performance of the Quantity Surveying team to ensure quality and timeliness in delivery.
• Attend site meetings and contribute to the resolution of commercial, contractual and technical problems.
• Responsible, with the Project Manager, for the preparation and production of all agreed reports to predetermined deadlines.
• Provide day to day support to the Projects Delivery team in support of any financial/commercial obligations/issues
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, health and safety regulations, and quality standard.

Who you are:

You will have experience in a similar role and be able to work in a fast paced and high-pressured environment. You will have a strong QS or Commercial experience gained within a relevant industry.

Key Requirements:

• Experience working as a Managing / Lead Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager in the Rail / Telecoms / Utilities / Construction industries
• Acting as the escalation point for QS queries and issues.
• ARICS or ACIOB qualification
• Experience of using Oracle finance system or other finance system if not Oracle
• Working knowledge of NEC/Network Rail forms of contracts
• Good working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite of program.
