Job summary

Matchtech Mobility is seeking a Lead Quality Supervisor for an aerospace manufacturing client based in the United Kingdom. The role focuses on maintaining ISO9001 and AS9100 QMS, applying rigorous inspection and metrology practices, and ensuring compliance throughout the shop floor.

You will lead audits, support continuous improvement, and coordinate cross-site quality transfer to ensure dimensional conformity and high-quality outputs for advanced composite components.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a Quality Supervisor, Senior Inspector, or Quality Engineer role within aerospace.
  • Experience inspecting composite components and assemblies is essential.
  • Strong background in ISO9001/AS9100 quality systems and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain day-to-day ISO9001 and AS9100 QMS compliance and documentation.
  • Carry out inspection and measurement of composite components per drawings and specs.
  • Lead NCRs, CAPA, and root-cause analysis to drive corrective actions.
  • Coordinate cross-site quality activities for UK and Turkish operations.

Job description

Our client, a leading organisation in the aerospace industry, is currently seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Quality Supervisor to join their team. This permanent role will oversee day-to-day quality assurance and inspection activities, ensuring compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems. The role supports the manufacture of advanced composite components and assemblies for the aerospace market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality System Maintenance & Compliance
    • Ensure day‑to‑day compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100 QMS requirements.
    • Maintain quality procedures, work instructions, inspection records, and supporting documentation.
    • Support internal audits, customer audits, and external certification surveillance activities.
    • Assist the external QMS provider during audits and system reviews.
    • Ensure non‑conformances are recorded, managed, and closed promptly.
    • Promote continuous improvement in quality processes and shop‑floor practices.
  • Inspection & Measurement
    • Carry out hands‑on dimensional inspection of composite components and assemblies throughout manufacture.
    • Perform incoming, in‑process, and final inspection activities to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
    • Produce accurate inspection reports, measurement records, and quality documentation.
    • Define, maintain, and apply inspection plans and acceptance criteria for manufactured components.
    • Operate a range of inspection and metrology equipment, including verniers, micrometers, height gauges, surface tables, go/no‑go gauges, digital measuring systems, and 3D scanning equipment.
    • Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated, maintained, and fit for use.
    • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and product validation activities.
  • Product Transfer & Cross‑Site Quality
    • Inspect and verify products transferring from the UK to Turkish production.
    • Ensure dimensional conformity and quality standards are met before transfer.
    • Support inspection and validation of products received from Turkey before delivery.
    • Ensure consistent application of acceptance criteria across UK and Turkish operations.
    • Support quality alignment between sites through shared inspection standards and practices.
  • Non‑Conformance & Continuous Improvement
    • Raise, investigate, and manage non‑conformance reports (NCRs).
    • Lead or support root‑cause analysis activities using structured quality tools.
    • Implement and verify the effectiveness of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
    • Identify recurring quality issues and support improvement initiatives.
    • Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to reduce defects and improve process capability.
Job Requirements
  • Proven experience in a Quality Supervisor, Senior Inspector, or Quality Engineer role within aerospace, advanced composites, or high‑performance manufacturing.
  • Experience inspecting composite components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of aircraft interior manufacturing or aerospace composite processes.
  • Strong experience maintaining and working within ISO9001 and AS9100 QMS in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting internal, customer, and certification audits with a strong understanding of AS9100 requirements.
  • Strong practical inspection and metrology experience.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, composite specifications, and GD&T.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment and inspection software.
  • Experience with 3D scanning, CMM inspection, or advanced metrology systems is advantageous.
  • Strong experience in non‑conformance management, root‑cause analysis, and CAPA processes.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and quality management documentation systems.
