Job description

Do you have expertise in quality management and continuous improvement?

Can you lead teams effectively while managing quality-related issues in a highly regulated environment?

If so, join EDF as a Lead Quality Engineer and make a meaningful impact to the most exciting infrastructure project in the UK!

The Opportunity

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E’s integrated teams.

As a Lead Quality Engineer for the EPR-E HPC nuclear project, you will oversee engineering/design deliverables, manage quality-related issues, and report on quality metrics. You will contribute to the oversight of the Integrated Management System, ensuring compliance with contract quality requirements and working closely with the Project Quality Manager to drive continuous improvement.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a salary range of £65,000 - £70,000 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

As a Lead Quality Engineer, you’ll be responsible for overseeing and managing situations adverse to Quality, including audit findings, condition reports, and non-conformances, ensuring their proper resolution. You’ll contribute to the oversight of the Integrated Management System for EPR-E, participating in process reviews and improvements. Additionally, you will ensure the deployment of Quality processes and instructions within project teams, providing necessary training and awareness sessions.

Your role includes setting quality targets, monitoring project quality management, and utilising root cause analysis for resolving non-conformances and corrective actions. You’ll develop and maintain a network to handle Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and manage a team of Quality Engineers.

Who you are

As a Lead Quality Engineer, You'll have a solid background in quality- focused engineering.

Proficiency in continuous improvement tools such as 8D and a strong ability in root cause analysis are important. You should have a solid understanding of Quality Management Systems and working within regulated environments—experience in the nuclear industry is highly valued but not essential.

Strong leadership, clear communication, and a collaborative mindset are key, as you'll support and guide cross-functional teams.

Additional assets such as French language skills, familiarity with EPR/PWR systems, or ISO auditor certification are a plus.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!

Closing date for applications: 9th May 2025

Success is personal. It’s your journey, powered by us. Join us and we’ll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
