Job summary

Client Server in London is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive Python API development and team leadership for a fintech platform.

You will head a small, capable tech team, balancing architecture work with people management, mentoring engineers, and delivering features for the core banking system while collaborating with peers.

Hybrid working model with the Central London office and up to two days remote per week.

Qualifications

• Experienced Software Engineer with Python and full SDLC experience.
• Proven team leadership experience with 1-2-1s and performance reviews.
• Strong knowledge of cloud services (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable).
• Experience building APIs, ideally FastAPI.
• Solid CI/CD, testing and deployment practices.
• Strong CS fundamentals: OOP, data structures, design patterns, algorithms.
• Collaborative, pragmatic with strong communication.
• STEM degree with 2:1 or above.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small tech team to deliver features and refactors for core banking platform.
• Balance architecture/design and people management ~50/50.
• Mentor junior developers and set engineering standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure quality and timely delivery.
