Job summary

London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design, build, and evolve scalable Python-based platforms that support AI evaluation across the organisation.

You will collaborate with data scientists and engineers, guide architectural decisions, and ensure robust deployment in Azure with DevOps practices. The role blends software engineering, data science, and AI ethics, with a hybrid work model requiring three days in the office weekly.

Qualifications

• Production software development experience with Python.
• Experience designing scalable cloud-based systems.
• Strong software engineering principles: maintainability, security, operability.
• Experience influencing technical direction or mentoring engineers.
• Experience building platforms, frameworks, or shared services.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions and services in Python for evaluating AI-powered applications.
• Build reusable platforms and tooling to enable teams to evaluate AI-powered products consistently.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to translate evaluation requirements into technical solutions.
• Support deployment and operations in Azure with DevOps collaboration.
• Own the technical direction and promote engineering best practices across the team.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and software quality.
