Job description

This is a part-time, temporary role as a Lead Psychologist at Elysium Healthcare's Pinhoe View facility in Exeter. The successful candidate will lead the psychology department, working alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care and support recovery. Main duties of the job

The Lead Psychologist will be responsible for assessing referrals, providing initial assessments for service users, and undertaking high-quality direct and indirect psychological interventions. They will work therapeutically with service users with complex presentations, formulate and implement plans of specialist psychological treatment, and maintain high standards of care in accordance with professional guidelines and company policies.

This role includes a welcome bonus of £5000, with the added possibility of extending the workdays from three to four.

Are you an experienced Psychologist looking for a rewarding career where you can make a difference and changes lives for the better? You will be working 22.5 hours per week as Part-time Clinical Psychologist, at Pinhoe View, a 36 bed Acute Inpatient Hospital in Exeter and enjoy support from a regional network of healthcare professionals.

You will be working leading the psychology department and working alongside members of the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT), to offer patient-centred care, implementing daily, meaningful activities which can support recovery.

This entails competently assessing unwell service users, including completing assessments, planning and implementing person-centred interventions and the ongoing evaluation of their care and treatment.

You will be required to oversee the provision of the psychology service, as well as supporting the team in facilitating assessment and formulation interventions and psychology groups in collaboration with the team.

As a Psychologist you will be:

  • Participating in the assessment of referrals, and to provide initial assessment service users referred to the service.
  • Undertaking high quality direct (assessment & therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory, and evaluative) specialist psychological interventions and making autonomous clinical decisions.
  • Working therapeutically with service users with complex presentations, undertake the assessments using a broad range of structured psychometric and semi structured clinical methods.
  • Formulating and implementing plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of patients’ mental health needs based on a multi-factorial psychological understanding and current evidence based best practise.
  • Being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care.
  • Maintaining high standards of care in all areas of practice and in accordance the HCPC Code of Conduct,professional guidelinesand Company Policies and Procedures.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Have BPS recognised psychology degrees
  • Be HCPC registered
  • Have understanding evidence-based psychological practice
  • Have experience of applying psychological knowledge to aclinical setting
  • Be experienced working with clients with cognitive deficits
  • Have previous experience of conducting research and project working

Pinhoe View is a purpose-built facility where a range of mental health services are provided for adults with acute mental health conditions across two wards.

The 24-hour acute inpatient service is supported by a full multidisciplinary team, which specialises in the assessment, treatment and stabilisation of people suffering from a significant mental health episode and in crisis.

Qualifications
  • The successful candidate must have BPS-recognised psychology degrees, be HCPC registered, and have an understanding of evidence-based psychological practice. They should also have experience of applying psychological knowledge in a clinical setting, working with clients with cognitive deficits, and conducting research and project work.
