A leading consultancy in the energy sector is seeking an experienced Lead Protection & Control Engineer for a 6-month contract in Glasgow. The role involves leading the design and delivery of Protection & Control systems for Transmission and Distribution projects. Overview

Lead Protection & Control Engineer - Contract - Hybrid - Glasgow - Outside IR35

VIQU have partnered with a leading consultancy in the energy sector, who are seeking an experienced Lead Protection & Control Engineer. You'll play a key role in delivering complex Protection & Control solutions across Transmission and Distribution projects, ensuring compliance, quality, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical design and delivery of Protection & Control systems.
  • Develop SLDs, KLDs, architecture diagrams, and concept designs.
  • Conduct site surveys and provide technical input for tenders.
  • Produce and review schematics, layouts, calculations, and schedules.
  • Chair design workshops and interface with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to required standards.
Key Requirements
  • Strong experience as a Lead Protection & Control Engineer.
  • Knowledge of key technologies and vendors, with solid background within the Energy industry.
  • Hands-on experience with IEC61850 and related field implementation.
  • Understanding of communications, substation protocols, and Cyber Security requirements.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel when needed
