It is essential that the successful candidate has a driver’s licence and access to a vehicle, or is currently learning to drive.
What is great about the role?
Our fantastic team in Cardiff provide temporary supported accommodation for males who have experienced domestic abuse. Our focus is to provide a safe environment in which to deliver support to develop people’s skills and confidence, engage with relevant specialist services appropriate to the individual’s needs and encourage independence. Our clients are 16+, male, motivated to change and willing to engage with solutions focused, housing related support.
Our focus as a service is to support our customers in leading successful and independent lives and to feel safe in their homes and communities. You will motivate and encourage clients to participate in the community and to promote the achievement of life skills and social skills. You will work flexibly as part of a team to develop, implement and review support plans and risk management plans based on individual needs, preferences and aspirations. You will work closely with partner agencies, including local authorities, social and private landlords, to investigate sustainable, affordable housing options.
The post holder will be an experienced IDVA/ISVA or have experience of working with victims of Domestic Abuse and be willing to work towards relevant IDVA/ISVA qualification. A good understanding of housing related support and welfare benefits or awareness of issues faced by people at risk of homelessness would be extremely useful in the role.
You need to be reliable because people are depending on you. You also need to be a great communicator, both verbally and in writing and have basic IT and numerical skills. You will also have great organisation skills in order to effectively manage your own case load.
