Job summary

Synergize Consulting seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead Urgent Capability Requirements in a Defence context. The role focuses on accelerating procurement, development and deployment of mission‑critical capabilities while streamlining processes and managing risk.

Four days per week onsite in Luton, with strong stakeholder engagement and a track record in high‑pressure delivery. SC clearance is essential and experience with change programmes is desirable.

Qualifications

• Live security clearance (SC) required.
• Experience delivering Urgent Capability Requirements (UCR) within defence.
• Proven ability to manage project/programme delivery under pressure.
• Background in defence, crisis management or rapid capability delivery.
• Certification such as PMP or PRINCE2.

Responsibilities

• Advise on rapid acquisition and deployment of critical capabilities outside standard timelines.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and compress acquisition cycles.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation in high‑pressure environments.
• Engage with leadership, stakeholders, suppliers, and delivery teams to report progress.
• Support resource and budget management in fast‑paced programmes.
• Ensure delivery meets safety, legal and operational standards.

Project Manager (Urgent Capability Requirements)

Luton HQ – 4 days a week onsite

Up to £107 p/h Outside IR35

A leading Defence prime are looking to onboard an experienced Urgent Capability Requirements Project Manager, this will be to support the rapid delivery of mission-critical capabilities in response to Urgent Capability Requirements (UCRs).

The role will advise the IPT Lead on accelerating procurement, development, and deployment activities, while streamlining processes, managing operational risk and supporting an internal change programme.

• Live security clearance (SC)
• UCR (Urgent Capability Requirements) delivery to the UK MOD
• Extensive experience in project/programme management within high-pressure or urgent delivery environments.
• Background in defence, crisis management, rapid operational capability delivery, IT/infrastructure emergency response or similar sectors.
• Professional certification such as PMP or PRINCE2.
• Proven ability to make critical decisions under pressure and manage ambiguity effectively.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation, communication, and influencing skills.
• Agile and adaptable approach to delivery and problem-solving.
• Experience supporting organisational change or transformation programmes.

• Ensure delivery meets required safety, legal, and operational standards, while supporting governance or compliance alleviations where appropriate.
