Lead Production Technician

Following an internal reorganisation, an exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an exceptional pharmacy technician to manage the busy production units on a rotational basis at University College Hospital.

You will need to be registered with the GPhC or equivalent registration with the Science Council, with substantial post qualification pharmacy production experience which should include experience working as a team leader within a hospital Pharmacy sterile production unit.

As the Lead Production Technician, you will provide excellent leadership to a range of technical staff working in the unit. Good people skills; an excellent working knowledge of GMP; Good Stock Control Practice and sound dispensing skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

The production team is friendly and extremely hard-working, and the chemotherapy service is very busy, preparing around 50,000 doses pa, you will need to cope with the busy workloads, maintain high standards of accuracy and precision, help plan and schedule work, as well as building excellent relationships with the other members of the production team.Previous applicant need not apply.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Registered Technician with the GPhC or with the Science Council (RSciTech)
  • NVQ Pharmacy services Level 3 plus an accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science, Science manufacturing technician (SMT) qualification or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of Beanie Guide and Orange Guide
  • NVQ A1 workplace assessor award or Educational Supervisor trained, Practice Supervisor trained or working towards
Experience
  • Previous experience of post qualification work as a team leader or operational management capacity in a hospital Pharmacy sterile/production unit.
  • Demonstrated ability of managing audit and project work
  • Demonstrated ability to write and implement SOPs
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and accurately complete complex routine and non-routine documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, and identify whole team solutions.
