Job summary

James Fisher and Sons plc is seeking a Production Controller to lead the UK Production Planning team from Westhill, Aberdeen. The role focuses on driving operational excellence, optimising resources and delivering robust production plans to meet customer needs and profitability.

You will manage documentation, routings, BOMs and master data, while collaborating with Planning, Engineering, Procurement and Production to improve data accuracy and scheduling performance.

Qualifications

• Experience using ERP/MRP systems to manage routings, BOMs, lead times and master data.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, planning and production control.
• Experience creating and maintaining production documentation (work orders, packs).
• Knowledge of BOM structures, configuration management and phantom assemblies.
• Proficient in Excel and MS Office, with data analysis skills.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specs.
• Attention to detail and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production job packs, work orders and documentation for scheduling.
• Control and issue drawings, specs and docs to manufacturing teams promptly.
• Create, review and optimise routings within ERP/MRP to reflect processes.
• Define and manage product lead times to support planning and on-time delivery.
• Maintain BOMs to support cost control and manufacturing.
• Drive BOM standardisation using common parts and phantom assemblies.
• Safeguard master data integrity for routings, BOMs and planning parameters.
• Support engineering changes by updating production data and docs.
• Collaborate with Planning, Engineering, Procurement and Production to improve data accuracy.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement for data quality and planning performance.
