About This Role

Lead FinCrime Analyst - AML Handling

We’re looking for a FinCrime Analyst passionate about our mission of Money Without Borders to partner with our financial crime product teams. Your role will involve driving data-driven growth decisions and combating financial crime.

At Wise, we balance user experience with risk prevention. Our AML team aims to stay ahead of money laundering activities while providing a seamless customer experience. You will innovate and implement controls that enhance security without compromising user convenience.

You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, data scientists, and engineers to translate insights into real change for our customers.

Your Mission

At Wise, our mission is Money Without Borders — instant, convenient, transparent, and eventually free. Whether our customers are sending money abroad, spending money abroad, or making international business payments, Wise aims to simplify and save money for them.

Here’s how you’ll contribute to the Financial Crime team:

  • Expose vast process data to product teams in a meaningful, actionable way, enabling proactive access without friction or analyst assistance
  • Contribute to and track key metrics for your product and operational teams, ensuring accountability
  • Support stakeholders through research, reports, and visualizations
  • Work with data scientists to develop automation use cases, including LLMs, within investigation and reporting processes
  • Build frameworks for managing risk and customer experience at scale
  • Drive discovery by scoping new opportunities and suggesting improvements for investigation tooling and processes
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Engineering, and Operations teams

This role offers opportunities to:

  • Be part of positive global change, fixing a broken system and empowering people and businesses
  • Create value from extensive datasets across a global payment infrastructure
  • Influence team direction through data-driven decision-making
  • Learn from a diverse, international team of professionals
Qualifications
  • Strong quantitative skills, preferably in statistics, maths, physics, engineering, or a scientific field
  • Experience with SQL and Python/R
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate business problems into analytical solutions
  • Ability to independently structure problems, prioritize, and simplify complex ideas
  • Hustler mentality — proactive and results-oriented
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Looker, PowerBI, Tableau)
  • 4+ years of professional data analysis experience
Additional Information
  • Base salary: £75,000–£100,000 GBP gross annually (based on experience and interview outcomes)
  • Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) & other benefits: benefits details

We’re committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, believing diverse teams are our strength. We celebrate differences and foster an environment where everyone feels respected, empowered, and able to grow.
