Job summary

Whessoe Engineering Limited is recruiting a Senior Process Engineer to join the Process and Process Safety team in Darlington. The role focuses on technically complex projects involving liquefied gases and process facilities, with leadership on smaller assignments.

You will apply process design expertise, support senior engineers, and oversee safe, compliant plant design across projects in oil, gas, and petrochemicals.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering, IChemE accredited.
• Experience in oil and gas or petrochemical environments.
• Experience across FEED, EPC, commissioning and operation.
• Experience supervising or supporting process engineers.
• Proficiency with process design software, including HYSYS.

Responsibilities

• Ensure technical integrity of process designs.
• Supervise process engineers and coordinate resources.
• Produce and check project deliverables on time and budget.
• Develop process schemes and control philosophies.
• Prepare design bases, process descriptions and alarm/trip schedules.
• Prepare heat and material balances using HYSYS.
• Oversee P&ID, line lists and process data sheets.
• Complete equipment sizing calculations.
• Represent the company during P&ID, HAZOP, SIL and other process safety reviews.
