Surrey and Borders Partnership Foundation Trust are proud to provide outstanding Forensic Mental Health services to the population of Surrey.

Often, people who have a forensic profile feel that they are overlooked. Our Forensic Outreach and Liaison (FOLs) seek to redress this balance, to advocate for this group of people enthusiastically and inclusively. We pride ourselves on working collaboratively with the people who use our services and their carers to ensure that people receive care as close to home as possible and that they don't spend a day longer in secure placements than is necessary.

We are seeking a passionate and committed lead psychologist to join our FOLs team - you will be working with friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary teams who greatly value the skills and expertise of our Clinical / Counselling Psychologists. You will be working with high risk, complex mental health difficulties, offering supervision to colleagues and be part of a leadership team committed to developing the therapeutic offer of the service.

Main duties of the job
  1. To plan and deliver a highly specialist psychology service (in leadership or advanced therapy role) and to oversee its clinical governance.
  2. To be responsible for the professional leadership and continued development of a team and/or service area.
  3. To be responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate policies, protocols and care pathways.
  4. To ensure that the needs of people with protected characteristics are addressed within local services and future developments.
  5. To demonstrate highly specialist expertise and specialist psychological skills such as specialist psychological assessments, formulation, therapeutic interventions and consultation to support people with complex needs.
  6. To act as supervisor/teacher in teaching, facilitating and supporting pre-registration students and junior personnel and to participate in the audit of educational placements. To participate in new staff induction.
  7. To research national best practice and enable services to benchmark practice against nationally recognised standards - in partnership with people who use services and carers.
  8. To lead in developing and conducting clinical audit and research, maintaining current knowledge of research findings and development within the relevant area of practice.
