We’re mobilising a short-term FEED project within the hydrogen energy sector and are seeking an experienced Lead/Principal Electrical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering innovative process plant design.
This client-facing role requires deep technical expertise in electrical engineering for large-scale process facilities, and the ability to lead the discipline across design phases with autonomy and precision.
Provide technical leadership for electrical engineering activities on a high-profile hydrogen FEED project
Prepare, review, and approve engineering deliverables, including technical specifications, calculations, and drawings
Develop equipment and material requisitions for HV/LV switchgear, UPS, VFDs, motors, transformers, lighting, earthing, and more
Prepare installation scopes of work and oversee supplier engagement, including technical bid evaluations
Allocate tasks within the team and ensure timely, quality-assured delivery aligned with project schedules and client expectations
Ensure compliance with all applicable UK and international standards, codes, and safety legislation
HV (33kV and below) system design and protection schemes
Protection system design including schematics, grading studies, and setting calculations
Power system analysis: fault level calculations, load flow studies, earthing system design
Detailed electrical design for complex industrial facilities
Specifying and assessing electrical equipment for use in hazardous areas
Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering; apprenticeships considered
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or actively working toward this) with a relevant professional body
Extensive experience in process plant electrical design, ideally in hydrogen, oil & gas, or industrial sectors
Strong understanding of UK legislation, electrical standards, and hazardous area classification
Confidence in a client-facing role, with strong communication and leadership skills
