Job summary

Planning Recruitment Limited is assisting a London-based client to recruit an experienced Principal Designer to lead the Building Regulations and CDM Principal Designer services. You will work closely with a partner, with the aim of progressively taking over leadership of the service.

The role focuses on delivering Principal Designer commissions across complex projects, while also mentoring a team and contributing to process improvements and business development.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering Building Regulations Principal Designer services and CDM duties.
• Relevant degree in architecture, architectural technology, building surveying, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, Building Safety Act, and CDM Regulations.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and client-facing with commercial focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Building Regulations and CDM Principal Designer commissions.
• Review technical information, compliance and design risks.
• Support Higher-Risk Building projects, Gateway processes, change control and golden thread requirements.
• Mentor the Principal Designer team.
• Develop procedures, templates and QA processes.
• Build relationships with clients and prospective clients.
• Prepare fee proposals, scopes and bids.
• Monitor resources, fees and commercial performance.
• Support business development and growth of the service.
