Job summary

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust in London is seeking an experienced Band 7 Dietitian for the Pre-Operative Assessment and Surgical Prehabilitation Service at Central Middlesex Hospital to support patients preparing for major surgery.

This fixed‑term maternity cover role will lead nutritional assessment, optimisation and management, delivering specialist care in outpatient and inpatient settings alongside the MDT to improve surgical outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, deliver and evaluate the clinical dietetic service within the Pre-Operative Assessment and Surgical Prehabilitation Service, supporting patients undergoing colorectal surgery and expanding surgical pathways.
• Manage and optimise nutritional care for patients before and after surgery, including complex colorectal surgical patients.
• Support patients with weight management pre-operatively.
• Share an in-patient caseload on the gastroenterology ward (including the enhanced care unit).
• Lead and carry out regular clinical audit or research into this specialist area.
• Provide training and professional development support for dietitians, student dietitians, medical and nursing staff in this area.
• Ensure work is in line with departmental, Trust and national dietetic standards.
• Participate in the organisation, management and development of the dietetic team.
