Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a recognised Power Systems expert with extensive EMC knowledge to join our defence, marine, energy, and industrial teams in the UK. You will provide technical leadership, own complex MW-scale Power Systems design, and shape project strategy.

You will model, simulate, specify equipment, and ensure compliance with EMC, health and safety standards, while collaborating across projects and sites and guiding commissioning teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Knowledge of Power Electronic Converter integration and EMC mitigation strategies.
  • Willingness to travel within UK and overseas for short-term assignments.
  • UK Eyes only with SC clearance possibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical ownership to Power Systems projects ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Model, analyze, and simulate Power Systems using MATLAB/SIMULINK and ETAP.
  • Develop equipment specs and support system-level design.
  • Ensure designs comply with EMC standards, health and safety requirements, international standards, and class society rules.
  • Lead project-level technical reviews and resource forecasting.

Job Description Summary

We're seeking a recognised Power Systems expert with extensive Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) knowledge to join our world-class engineering team. You'll provide technical leadership, design complex MW-scale Power Systems, and contribute to our overall strategy across Defence, Marine, Energy, and Industrial applications.

Job Description
Core Responsibilities:
  • Be a recognised technical expert in Power Systems, associated components & equipment.
  • Provide technical ownership to projects to support the development of safe, technically compliant, and cost-effective solutions at holistic Power System level.
  • Undertake all aspects of Power Systems design: - including modelling, analysis, and simulation of Power Systems, using standard industrial design tools such as: MATLAB/SIMULINK, ETAP etc.
  • Develop equipment specifications, FDS’s and support overall system level design.
  • Ensure Power System designs comply with the relevant EMC standards, health & safety requirements, international standards, and class society rules where applicable.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support attainment of on-time delivery, cost, and quality targets on projects with utmost focus on safety.
  • Provides project level technical leadership in design, reviews, project level technical resource forecasting and estimated times to complete activities.
  • Provide technical support to the project manager, lead engineer & commissioning teams in managing project deliverables and variations.
  • Provide Power Systems application support & technical guidance to the commercial and site teams.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Sole British citizenship with a valid British Passport (“UK Eyes only”)
  • Possession of or being capable of obtaining SC level security clearance.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant subject, or relevant industrial experience.
  • Have knowledge of Power Electronic Converter system integration, and associated EMC impact and mitigation strategies.
  • Willing to travel within UK and overseas for short-term working.
