Job description

Job Title: Lead Playworker

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 14:30 – 18:00 (17.5 hours per week)

Salary: £13-£14 per hour

Location: Aylesbury HP20 2DB

Job Summary:

We are seeking an excellent Leader to support our childcare wraparound provision at Elmhurst School. The Lead Playworker will oversee play care within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures. They will manage the daily operations of the club, including face-to-face delivery, with support from the Manager, Administrator, and Director.

Working Relationships:
  • Children attending the club and their parents or carers
  • Club management, staff, and volunteers
  • Schools, childcare, and play organizations, registering authorities
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Planning, preparing, and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment, meeting the EYFS framework
  2. Providing comprehensive care for children
  3. Supporting and supervising playworkers and volunteers
  4. Providing refreshments and ensuring hygiene, health, and safety standards are met
  5. Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities
  6. Working within the club’s policies, procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
  7. Having experience working with children with SEND
  8. Experience working with children aged 4 to 14 years
  9. Facilitating safe and creative play
  10. Demonstrating leadership skills and ability to work as part of a team
  11. Having sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of children
