Role Overview

Work with Principal Platform Engineer and Senior Product Owner to help drive the direction of platform and automation capabilities, including internal technical products related to GenAI.

Collaborate with a diverse team on some of Elanco’s most exciting engineering initiatives, focusing on security, reliability, and efficiency using the latest technology.

Stay updated on the latest AI research, trends, and technologies, applying this knowledge to foster continuous improvement and innovation.

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within our core ecosystem to enhance application team and developer experiences.

Contribute your expertise to a talented engineering team, helping shape how we can better enable our vision of security, reliability, and efficiency.

Adopt a value-driven mentality, working across engineering teams to understand and support application and operational engineering teams.

Communicate progress, results, and insights effectively to management and stakeholders.

Daily / Monthly Responsibilities

• Build and support GenAI products, ensuring robust incident management as products mature.
• Collaborate with distributed teams on AI/ML capabilities adoption.
• Engage in hands-on coding, governance, and maintenance.
• Deliver high-quality technical solutions as part of a Scrum team.
• Design and develop solutions to automate manual IT and business processes.
• Modernize software development using CI/CD practices for efficient delivery.
• Partner with service vendors to support automation adoption.
• Work with application health and security teams to identify risks and opportunities.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns to foster a strong organizational culture.
• Support application teams in resolving deployment and utilization barriers.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with programming languages like Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other AI/ML frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of neural networks, NLP, computer vision, and AI domains.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud and Azure.
• Familiarity with NLP or AI technologies.
• Experience with data pipelines, especially document processing.
• Proven success deploying AI solutions in real-world applications.
• Ability to collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to integrate AI solutions.
• Stay current with AI research and trends to promote innovation.
• Solid background in Python and Typescript.
• Operational experience maintaining and supporting internal products.
• Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders for software adoption.
• Knowledge of modern software practices including CI/CD, TDD, SDLC, within an agile environment.

Additional Experience

• Experience with Cloud Native design patterns, especially Azure and Google Cloud.
• Hands-on experience with technologies like Terraform, Ansible, Packer.
• Experience with cloud cognitive services and AI/embeddings technologies.
• Experience working with infrastructure teams is advantageous.
• Knowledge of application architecture methodologies (SOA, API-Centric, Twelve-Factor, FAIR).
• Support for digital platforms, including integrations, release management, testing, and data obfuscation.
• Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, GCP Data Fusion, Azure ML, GCP ML Engine, Data Lake, Databricks, or similar tools.
• Experience designing and scaling API ecosystems.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization protocols.
