Overview

Service Care Solutions is delighted to be supporting a forward-thinking local authority, based in Nottinghamshire, which needs an experienced Planning Solicitor or Barrister to take on the role of Lead Planning Lawyer within their legal services team.

Role: Lead Planning Lawyer
Location: Nottinghamshire - Hybrid (occasional office attendance)
Umbrella Rate: £50 - £60ph
PAYE Inc. Rate: £44.10 - £52.79ph
Contract Length: 3 months ongoing

The Role

As the Council's Lead Planning Lawyer, you will:

  • Advise on all aspects of planning law, with a focus on major minerals and waste developments and the complex legal agreements that accompany them.
  • Provide expert legal input on planning applications, appeals, enforcement, and inquiries.
  • Advise on highway-related legal matters as required.
  • Play a key role in mentoring junior staff, including supporting the professional development of a graduate solicitor apprentice.
About You

We're looking for a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with:

  • Significant post-qualification experience in planning law (local government experience highly desirable).
  • Strong technical knowledge and the ability to handle complex, high-value matters.
  • A collaborative approach and an enthusiasm for developing junior team members.
