Job Description

A vacancy has arisen within the portfolio team for a lead planner. This role offers development opportunities to a lead position and provides broader exposure at the portfolio level.

The purpose of the role is to provide portfolio planning and performance management support. Responsibilities include developing targets, monitoring their delivery, auditing target achievement, reviewing plans and status updates, maintaining controlled documents, developing planning capacity, and managing planning software.

The role also involves supporting data development and assessment at the portfolio level and collaborating with the wider team on change control processes.

The successful candidate will own the integrated project controls (IPC) guidance and ensure best practices are maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement site procedures
  • Undertake assurance and analysis of programme schedules, identifying issues and supporting change control reviews
  • Provide training and mentoring in planning
  • Analyze critical paths and schedule restraints, integrating inter-discipline requirements
  • Provide feedback on portfolio performance during accountability sessions
  • Oversight of targets, support external audits, and ensure targets support mission delivery
  • Be the expert on planning systems and processes
  • Manage Primavera P6 software and relevant authorizations
  • Manage staff as a line manager
Aptitude and Experience
  • HND or equivalent qualification plus experience
  • Experience in a lead planning role or similar
  • Advanced Primavera P6 skills, especially in regulated environments
  • Ability to analyze large data sets for planning and resource issues
  • Experience in data risk management, cost estimation, and program development
  • Experience in multi-project integration and strategic planning
  • Experience in scope document development
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of database systems
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in training and supervising teams
  • Leadership capabilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
