Piping Lead Engineer (KOC)

Position Description:

We are seeking a Lead Piping Engineer with extensive experience leading FEED Design teams. The ideal candidate should have expertise in equipment/plant layout and piping design for Onshore Brownfield and Greenfield projects, using E3D software. Prior experience working with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) is essential.

The candidate will lead layout development for piping and the project by coordinating and guiding Area Leads and Piping Designers across all plant scope areas. Oversight of the Piping Mechanical group for Piping Stress and Materials activities is also required.

The role involves reviewing modelled equipment, pipework, preliminary structures, civil interfaces, and access/egress routes, with a strong knowledge of stress and support requirements. Coordination with disciplines such as Structural, Civils, Mechanical, Safety, Mechanical Handling, and Process is crucial.

Responsibilities include reviewing project documents, participating in Model Reviews, and checking plot plans and equipment layouts. The position is based in Leatherhead, UK, with a preference for candidates authorized to work in the UK. Flexibility for occasional remote work is considered, but regular office attendance is expected for team interaction and coordination.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Develop 3D CAD models for equipment and piping layouts in process and utility areas.
2. Consider access, handling, egress, structures, foundations, and interfaces with underground services.
3. Review construction access and craneage requirements.
4. Establish work processes and design notes for the piping team and interfaces.
5. Guide and coordinate with Area Lead Piping Designers.
6. Coordinate layout inputs from pipe stress engineering and support design.
7. Manage client expectations and provide feedback.
8. Ensure discipline budget and schedule adherence, manage changes.
9. Review project documents and contribute to project model reviews.
10. Assist in piping Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and estimates.
11. Communicate effectively with other disciplines and develop interface processes.
12. Support multi-center project execution and supervision.
13. Represent piping discipline in client reviews.
14. Support deliverable production, checking, and approvals.
15. Participate in site visits and surveys as needed.
16. Follow engineering standards and contribute to their development.

Skills / Experience: Essential

• Extensive knowledge of piping design and plant layout.
• Experience with onshore crude processing layout.
• Experience in brownfield piping design, site surveys, tie-ins, and CAD modelling.
• Previous plant layout and piping design responsibility in Area Lead roles.
• Leadership skills in layout coordination across teams.
• Understanding of stress and support considerations in brownfield routings.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD systems, preferably E3D.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Experience with Kuwait projects and KOC standards.

Desirable:

• Basic AutoCAD skills for drafting updates or interpretation.
• Hands-on E3D CAD modelling experience.
