Job description

Job Description
About the role

Own your career, and you can build something to be proud of at Balfour Beatty. By joining our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as a Lead Piping delivery manager on the Sizewell C Project. You’ll work with true experts who’ll share their knowledge and provide support, encouragement and invaluable feedback so you never stop learning. Bring us your capability, and we’ll help you take it much, much further.

Sizewell C will create a 3.2 gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for at least 60 years. It will be built next to Sizewell B which began operating in 1995 and has so far avoided more than 76 million tonnes of carbon emissions. Our proposal is to build a new nuclear power station on the East Suffolk coast which will supply 6 million homes with low-carbon electricity.

This role will be hybrid with a minimum of 1-2 days at the Aztec West offices in Bristol.

What you'll be doing

This role is critical in developing the overall strategy and plans for piping
delivery.

You will;

  • Support the execution of the Bulk strategy within the matrix organisation
of the MEHA, and lead the delivery of piping spools supporting the SZC
    overall programme.
  • Effectively lead a small but high-performing team with autonomy,
referencing back to senior leadership for guidance and support on critical
    matters.
  • Ensure harmonized processes and IT tools across all fabrication assets and
integrate IP teams, with support of the Lead PM BNI, BOP and NSSS.
  • Operate effectively within a complex matrix organisation and in
    multidisciplinary working groups.
  • Have adequate cross sector experience and communication skills to be
able to influence key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Be a contributor to the overall output and related strategies of the MEH
    team.
  • These accountabilities are not an exhaustive list of the responsibilities and
activities that the job holder may be required to undertake.

Who we're looking for

  • Educated to a degree level in Mechanical Engineering
  • Project Management Experience
  • Manufacturing management experience (Piping
    fabrication a plus)
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Experience of managing and co-ordination major EPC contractors,
interfacing with a suite of suppliers, disciplines, stakeholders and
integration of the same into the overall project program.
  • Able to obtain a security clearance
