Lead Physician

Role Purpose
To provide leadership and support for doctors in your allocated Bupa Health Centre, (or on-site clinic or within remote services), working collaboratively with other members of the management team to ensure provision of high standards of clinical practice and customer service. Where there is a business need, this may include cross-cover of other Bupa Health Centres, onsite clinics, or remote services.
Responsibilities
- Delivery of Adult Health Assessments and private GP work (for customers of all ages) at Bupa Health Centres, on-site or remotely.
- Provide clinical input into the review of customer feedback comments, complaints, incidents, and risks.
- Oversee the provision of health assessments and private GP work by the doctors within the centre or within remote services.
- Partner with the Bupa Resource team or local administrative team and centre managers for diary management and clinical scheduling.
- Investigate issues identified by you or team members, ensuring clinical safety is always maintained.
- Conduct clinical audits as per the Quality Team audit schedule, liaising with the Clinical Health Assessment Leadership Team (CHALT).
- Lead the implementation of clinical policies and procedures under guidance from the Clinical Leadership Team.
- Ensure medicines management policies are followed, especially regarding service line/resus policy drugs.
- Support the centre (or remote service) in preparing for CQC visits as a key stakeholder.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to staff and other LPs, ensuring timely advice and support.
- Lead delivery of emergency clinical procedures and mock scenarios within the centre or remotely.
- Assist the Centre/Remote Manager and team in driving service performance, understanding financial targets, and supporting business growth.
Qualifications & Training
- GMC registration with a license to practice and on the GP register.
- Active GMC appraisal and revalidation.
- Recent NHS appraisal and on performers list.
- MRCGP qualification.
- Current practice in NHS General Practice.
- Member of a Medical Defence Organisation.
- Extensive postgraduate experience in General Practice.
- Letter of Competence Intrauterine Techniques (LoC IUT).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
- Experience as a trainer, partner, or principal.
- Safeguarding Level 3 training certificate.
- Experience as an appraiser, mentor, and in leadership roles.
