Job summary

Newcastle United Women Academy seeks an Academy Physical Performance Lead to design and deliver age-appropriate, evidence-informed athletic development programmes. You will collaborate with coaches, medical staff and the MDT to maximise physical potential and foster Long-Term Athlete Development while reducing injury risk.

You will drive testing, progression tracking, rehabilitation support, nutrition education and maintain performance databases to the highest standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum BSc in Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science or related discipline.
• UKSCA accreditation or working towards accreditation.
• Excellent knowledge of long-term athletic development principles.
• Experience delivering physical development programmes in women’s sport.
• Experience in high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication, motivation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
• Reflective mindset and commitment to continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

• Design, deliver and review evidence-informed strength and conditioning programmes aligned to NUW Performance Plan.
• Conduct physical testing and monitor player progression to inform development plans.
• Support rehabilitation, return-to-play and injury prevention with the MDT.
• Provide physical performance support during training and matchdays (home/away).
• Maintain accurate player records and physical performance databases to standards.
• Educate and support coaches to integrate physical development into technical programmes.
• Deliver player education on nutrition, recovery and healthy lifestyle habits.
• Maintain and develop the Academy's physical performance monitoring systems.
• Support management and development of S&C equipment and facilities.
• Contribute to departmental projects, meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
