Job description

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Lead Photographer at our Shawbury site, near Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

The role

As our Lead Photographer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of documenting life in the RAF, from ceremonial events and graduations to technical photography and PR campaigns. This is a rare opportunity for you to highlight the RAF by using Social Media platforms to combine creative storytelling with a meaningful mission, supporting defence operations and showcasing the incredible work of our armed forces.

Day-to-day, you’ll be:

  • Capturing high-quality photography and videography at RAF events, engineering incidents, and official ceremonies
  • Managing and maintaining image libraries and digital content systems
  • Editing and enhancing images to meet professional standards and creative briefs
  • Liaising with stakeholders to ensure media is cleared and compliant for publication
  • Supporting aerial photography tasks, including emergency response documentation

This role is full time, working between 32 – 40 hours per week (hours to be discussed) based onsite at Shawbury.

  • Passionate and dynamic individual with a strong creative eye
  • Proven ability to produce engaging content for social media and PR
  • Skilled in digital photography and videography across various formats
  • Confident working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • You’ll either have completed Defence Photographer (CN5300) Phase 2 training at the Defence School of Photography (DSOP), with Phase 3 training in Digital Video Professional Techniques (DVPT) and Defence Media Operations Photography (DMOP), or be able to demonstrate suitable and appropriate civilian equivalents

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
