Job description

Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician with a passion for working in an acute mental health trust to join us as the Lead Technician - Education, Training and Workforce.

The post holder will oversee and lead our training strategy for Technicians, Student Technicians, and Pharmacy Assistants. Responsibilities include reviewing, developing, and maintaining core training programs in collaboration with other Lead Technicians, in line with service requirements, and working closely with Senior Pharmacy colleagues to expand training opportunities within the department.

Main Duties

The post holder will be responsible for delivering and implementing a comprehensive Pharmacy Education and Training strategy for Technicians and Support staff across all areas of the department, adhering to GPhC and national standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Overseeing formal training programs for Pharmacy Technician Students & Assistants.
  2. Collaborating with Lead Technicians and the Strategic Lead Pharmacist - Workforce Development to organize, develop, and train staff according to service needs, including managing rotas for:
  • Medicines Management modules
  • ACPT (Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician)
  • Staff working towards Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications or equivalent.
  • Reviewing, developing, and updating SOPs in collaboration with specialist leads.
  • Participating in the senior Pharmacy Technician team, contributing to strategic development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Holding line management responsibilities and contributing to clinical services as an MMT.
