Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated pharmacist to lead our Respiratory Pharmacy service for 12 months. You will lead a team of respiratory pharmacists and technicians to deliver specialist pharmaceutical care to respiratory patients at North Bristol Trust.
This is a highly clinical role, involving prescribing and reviewing patients in outpatient clinics for interstitial lung disease and/or severe asthma, as well as inpatient review of complex patients.

The postholder will work in partnership with respiratory consultants and specialist teams to promote and implement novel treatments and care pathways, ensuring delivery of high-quality patient care.
The role includes responsibility for providing expert advice on national and international respiratory guidance across the Trust and BNSSG, overseeing the safe, sustainable and cost-effective use of respiratory medicines, and leading the Respiratory Pharmacy team.
The postholder will also identify and deliver specialist training to medical, nursing and pharmacy staff at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Clinical duties will include oversight of respiratory pharmacy clinics and prescribing and reviewing patients in outpatient clinics for interstitial lung disease or severe asthma, and providing input to complex inpatients on the respiratory bed base.
The postholder will also contribute to medicines-related governance and financial management, including identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives.

Through effective leadership and management, and in conjunction with the Respiratory consultants and specialist teams be responsible for the promotion and implementation of novel treatments and care pathways in respiratory medicine. To support and advise on respiratory related national and international guidance within the trust and BNSSG (Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire). To monitor and ensure rational, safe, sustainable and cost-effective use of medicines within respiratory medicine. To lead, support and line manage the Respiratory pharmacy team. Identify needs, plan and deliver specialist training on respiratory medicines optimisation to a wide range of healthcare staff, including medical, nursing and pharmacy, at undergraduate and postgraduate level. To provide expert advice on respiratory medicines to all staff groups, patients and carers. To prescribe and provide outpatient clinic review for respiratory patients to include severe asthma and/or interstitial lung disease and maintain oversight of severe asthma and interstitial lung disease. To review complex inpatients on the respiratory bed base as required. Identify and action respiratory related cost savings and ensure that financial intelligence is provided on a regular basis.
