Job description

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional clinical pharmacist and independent prescriber to support our Early Intervention Services (EIS) across Sussex. The role has been pivotal in improving medicines use within the service. It supports clinicians and operational leads across EI services in all aspects of medicines use, including education, training, clinical queries, medicines spend, and running patient-facing clinics and prescribing roles. The role also leads on all aspects of EI-related prescribing, including shared care and guidance at Trust and ICS levels.

The role is Trust-wide with flexibility for base across Sussex and opportunities for flexible and part home-working. The successful candidate will be required to support EI services across the Trust.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead on medicines optimisation within EI across Trust services.
  • Support clinical and operational colleagues on medicines use within EI.
  • Lead on medicines guidance and policies related to EI within the Trust and in collaboration with ICS Medicines Optimisation groups.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
  • Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy (e.g., certificate or diploma).
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Knowledge, Training, and Experience (Essential)
  • Evidence of meeting the full gateway KSF for 7 Specialist Pharmacist.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Understanding of key stakeholders and how to support them.
  • Expertise in pharmacy, especially mental health medicines.
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy and mental health service provision.
  • Experience working with working-age mental health services.
  • Strong clinical pharmacy skills, particularly in mental health.
  • Experience providing drug information via written and verbal communication.
  • Experience handling Medicines Information queries and providing specialist advice.
