Job summary

NHS Orkney invites applications for a Lead Pharmacist Acute Services and Systems. This senior role combines clinical leadership with medicines governance, and drives the Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (HEPMA) system across the organisation.

You will head the Acute Services Pharmacy Team at The Balfour, shaping strategic and operational direction, ensuring high-quality pharmaceutical care, and leading digital transformation for staff and patients.

Qualifications

Significant post-registration clinical pharmacy experience.
Experience delivering specialist clinical pharmacy services.
Strong leadership, team development and change management skills.
Independent Prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake training.
Passion for medicines optimisation through innovation and digital transformation.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the Acute Services Pharmacy Team at The Balfour Hospital.
Oversee safe and effective operation and future development of HEPMA and related systems.
Collaborate with clinicians, service managers and regional partners to improve pharmaceutical care.
Drive medicines governance, procurement and quality improvement programmes.
Represent NHS Orkney in regional and national pharmacy networks.
