Job summary

A leading NHS Health Board in Wales is looking for a Consultant in Palliative Medicine to strengthen its Palliative Care team at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. This role involves leading ward rounds, providing medical leadership, and contributing to the 24/7 advice line for healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will possess GMC Specialist Registration or equivalent, and demonstrate significant expertise in Palliative Care and Oncology. This position offers flexibility in working hours, including both full and part-time options.

Qualifications

  • Experience in training grade posts or equivalent training accepted by Royal College/GMC for Specialist Registration.
  • Experience and interest in teaching and evaluation.
  • Adaptability to changing needs of service.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a twice weekly Consultant ward round in Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
  • Providing Medical Leadership of the East Hospital SPC team.
  • Contribute to the 24/7 SPC (Medical) Advice Line for HCPs in North Wales.

Skills

Good working knowledge of up-to-date Medical Oncology
Good knowledge of role of Palliative Care in life-limiting non-cancer conditions
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Good interpersonal skills
Appropriate skills and abilities at Consultant level

Education

GMC Specialist Registration or within 6 months of obtaining CCT
MRCP or equivalent
MBChB or equivalent
