Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking a Paediatric Lead Diabetes Specialist Nurse. The role leads the diabetes specialist nursing team, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care for children and young people with diabetes across home, school, community and hospital settings.

You will provide clinical leadership, education, and support to children, young people and families, including insulin pump therapy, CGM and flash monitoring, with a focus on self-management

Qualifications

• Current professional Registration (RSCN/RN Child)
• Evidence of CPD (continuous professional development)
• Evidence of current or recent paediatric diabetes clinical experience
• Relevant qualification in children’s diabetes care
• Teaching and assessing qualification
• Study at level 6 (degree/diploma)

Responsibilities

• Build professional relationships with children and families and communicate effectively
• Mentor and supervise student and ward nurses, medical students and MDT members
• Support families to make informed decisions about treatment and management
• Utilise local and national information and ICT systems for data
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and contribute to service development
• Provide training for staff and ensure clinical governance is embedded
