Job description

Lead Paediatric Audiologist - Band 7

The Lead Paediatric Audiologist will provide expert assessment and diagnosis of hearing impairments in children. The role involves delivering specialized audiometric investigations and managing a comprehensive hearing aid service for paediatric patients. The post holder will develop, implement, and evaluate individual treatment plans and lead a specialized Paediatric Audiology team within the Audiology Service.

Key responsibilities include monitoring care standards through clinical audits, research, supervision, and teaching. They will oversee the paediatric audiology services with support from the Audiology Service Manager.

Main duties
  1. Manage a paediatric caseload, diagnosing and treating complex hearing disorders.
  2. Use advanced analytical skills for diagnosis and counsel parents following severe/profound hearing loss diagnoses.
  3. Order and manage hearing aids and accessories for paediatric rehabilitation.
  4. Lead the development and operation of paediatric hearing aid services, including fitting and rehabilitation, following NHS protocols and evidence-based practices.
  5. Lead diagnostic testing, hearing assessment clinics, and hearing aid fittings, supervising senior audiologists.
  6. Collaborate with other agencies to ensure family-centered, multidisciplinary care.
