Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join the inpatient Orthopaedic and Surgical therapy team at Watford General Hospital on a part-time basis (23.5 hours per week).

The post requires strong leadership, clinical expertise in orthopaedics and trauma, and a focus on discharge planning. Core hours are 8:00–16:00 with a 7‑day rota (1:6 weekends). The role includes managing staff development and participating in service improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Must hold Occupational Therapy degree and be registered with the HCPC.
• Evidence of leadership training or courses and experience in clinical leadership.
• Postgraduate qualification or working towards one is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the OT team in Orthopaedics and Surgery with Band 7 supervision.
• Provide OT clinical expertise across Trauma & Orthopaedics and Surgical wards.
• Lead on discharge planning, patient pathway development and community referrals.
• Lead appraisals and development of junior staff and drive service development projects/audits.
• Participate in 7-day rota with weekend responsibilities and on-call patterns.
