Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist (Band 7) to lead the inpatient Orthopaedic and Surgical therapy team at Watford General Hospital.

The role is part-time (23.5 hours/week) with core hours 8:00–16:00 and a 1:6 weekend rota. You will provide clinical expertise, lead appraisals, and drive service development with the Therapy Team Leads.

Qualifications

• Must have NHS experience in Orthopaedics and Surgery.
• Leading a Band 7 OT team and providing clinical expertise.
• Lead appraisals and development of junior staff.
• Contribute to service development and audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead OT clinical care for Trauma & Orthopaedics and Surgical wards.
• Support discharge planning and timely patient transfers to community services.
• Manage referrals to specialist units and coordinate MDT input.
• Lead on staff development, appraisals, and junior staff training.
• Contribute to service development projects and audits within the department.
