Job description

Applications are invited from experienced Theatre Scrub Practitioners to lead the Theatre scrub team at our client’s acute hospital site located in Kingston upon Thames, near Wimbledon and Richmond Park.

The department comprises three operating theatres, undertaking a wide range of cases including Major-joint Orthopaedics, General, Gynae, Urology, Upper and Lower GI, ENT, Max-Fac, Plastics, and Vascular surgery. It also has a dedicated Endoscopy suite for various procedures.

This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week, including weekend shifts and participation in the on-call rota.

As the Theatre (scrub) team lead, you will manage staff and work alongside the Theatre Manager to ensure smooth daily operations, providing high standards of care. You should be an expert in the scrub role, capable of working autonomously, and serve as a role model for junior staff.

The hospital is accessible via TfL and National Rail services and local buses. It is a leading provider of independent healthcare in the UK, collaborating with eminent medical consultants and healthcare specialists. Established in 1898, it offers advanced surgical and orthopaedic care supported by the latest technology and equipment, including private GP services, physiotherapy, multiple consulting and treatment rooms, a dedicated day surgery unit, private inpatient rooms, imaging facilities, and an on-site pharmacy.

Person requirements:

  • Registered Nurse or ODP with current UK registration.
  • A minimum of five years post-registration experience, with at least two years in a recent UK-based senior scrub role.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
