Job summary

Acorn Nursery, part of Brighton & Hove City Council, seeks a Deputy Nursery Manager & SENDCO to lead SEND provision, support the EYFS framework, and work with families and professionals to deliver high-quality care and learning. The role is 23 hours per week with a pro-rata salary.

The post offers leadership responsibilities, a pro-rata salary of £33,119, and a one-year contract to cover a secondment, with generous benefits and a supportive staff team.

Qualifications

• Minimum level 3 qualification in early years and childcare or equivalent.
• Experience working with young children in early years settings.
• Experience delivering the EYFS framework.
• Commitment to inclusive practice and SEND.
• Excellent communication with children, families and professionals.
• Ability to lead and support a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day running of the nursery alongside the Nursery Manager.
• Lead on SEND provision and work with families and professionals.
• Support planning, observation, assessment and tracking of progress.
• Promote safeguarding, high-quality teaching and child development.
• Develop partnerships with external professionals and Health Visitors.
