NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) provides vital services to the NHS, improving patient outcomes and saving lives. We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our Therapeutic Apheresis Services team (TAS).
TAS provides lifesaving and life-enhancing treatments to adults and children across various clinical specialties using advanced technology.
Our TAS Units are based within NHS Trusts across England, including the Middlesbrough unit at The James Cook University Hospital, working alongside our Leeds team at St James’ Hospital.
As the Lead Nurse, you will manage and lead the clinical team within a designated area for safe TAS provision.
No prior knowledge of therapeutic apheresis is required as full training will be provided. Success in this role depends on excellent communication skills to develop relationships and integrate your team within a new structure.
Your unit will operate a routine Monday to Saturday service, with an on-call rota providing 24/7 emergency cover. You will be supported by a Medical Consultant, a Senior Management Team, and other units across England.

The Lead Nurse - Therapeutic Apheresis Services is responsible for ensuring the delivery of TAS for NHS patients and supporting blood donation collections within a regional Donor Services framework. Responsibilities include:
The service operates Monday to Friday with an on-call emergency rota, which may involve travel and irregular hours, including overnight stays with prior notice.
