Main duties of the job

As a senior nurse and autonomous practitioner, you will be the lead for Paediatric and Neonatal Organ Donation and Transplantation in the UK, ensuring clinical excellence. Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert advice to specialist nurses across the UK, serving as a credible role model
  • Collaborating with the National Clinical Lead and stakeholders to implement standards, systems, and guidance for quality care
  • Developing and executing a national paediatric and neonatal organ donation strategy aligned with organisational goals
  • Leading research initiatives to improve donation and transplantation rates from paediatric and neonatal populations

You will participate in an on-call service to facilitate organ donation, accountable to the Organ Donation Team Manager. Travel and irregular hours, including overnight stays, will be required with prior notice.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Commitment to organ donation and transplantation
  • Understanding of issues affecting paediatric and neonatal donation
  • Awareness of current NHS nursing developments in this area
  • Experience implementing change within teams or organisations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Qualifications and Training

  • Postgraduate Nursing registration (e.g., critical care or paediatric nursing) with NMC, maintained actively
  • Teaching qualification or relevant experience
  • Degree or equivalent in an allied health field
