Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a Lead Nurse in Organ Donation to provide clinical leadership and operational support to regional donation teams in Liverpool. You will lead Specialist Nurses in Organ Donation (SNODs) and collaborate with hospital staff to maximise donation opportunities while upholding high standards of care and compassion.

Significant experience in critical care or transplantation, strong leadership and communication skills, and a commitment to end-of-life care and donor

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience in a clinical setting.
• Proven track record in organ donation or transplantation.
• Strong governance and professional development focus.
• Excellent communication with hospital teams and families.

Responsibilities

• Monitor KPIs to maximise organ and tissue donation within the geographical area.
• Direct management of the Organ Donation Services team within the area.
• Oversee area budget and responsibility for a 24 hour on-call service.
• Provide input to hospital development planning and ensure national strategy is implemented.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rota and maintain clinical credibility in organ donation.
