Job summary

This is a great opportunity for a Band 6 Lead Nurse to gain experience and work part time on our brand new Derwent Unit in Chesterfield.

This is an exciting time to work for Derbyshire Healthcare. Derwent Unit is a purpose-built 54-bed unit recently opened March 2025. These new facilities will improve safety, privacy and dignity for our adult acute mental health patients by providing en-suite accommodation in single rooms.

Sycamore Ward is a new 18-bed Mixed gender Working Age Adult Acute Ward, based at our new Derwent Unit in Chesterfield.

Sycamore Ward will focus on therapeutic interventions and deliver care to national recommendations.

This is a great opportunity for you to support shaping the service and build the team along with the Ward Manager and other senior leaders. You will work alongside others to establish and develop this new ward for Derbyshire and collaborate with an innovative and forward-thinking programme team and senior leaders.

We put a high emphasis on quality of care, peer support and on clinical engagement in service development and management. We will welcome candidates who bring an enthusiasm for innovation, teaching and development and can work closely with colleagues from different professional backgrounds.

Please note that you must have the prior approval of your current line manager before applying for this post as a secondment.

Main duties of the job

You will:

  • Provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring evidence-based practice is delivered to improve the quality of and shape responsive services.
  • Monitoring and ensure maintenance of standards of care that support safe high quality practice throughout the twenty-four hour period.
  • Supporting junior colleagues within the multi-disciplinary process.
  • Supervising and promoting staff development.Be part of the Bleep Holder rota.
  • Always act in a way which reflects both the word and spirit of the Trust's values
