Location: Required to travel across all three Leeds sites in Armley, Irford, and Kirkgate.

We have an exciting opportunity in Forward Leeds for a Lead Nurse where you will play a crucial role in delivering, developing, and maintaining excellent clinical practice. About the role...

As the Lead Nurse, the successful candidate will work alongside the Clinical Services Lead and deputise in their absence. You will have previous experience of leading clinicians, with the ability to provide sound clinical advice to colleagues and support clinical decision-making. The prescribing qualification is not essential but Humankind will support those wishing to undertake this qualification. Humankind's clinical teams are supported by a multi-disciplinary, forward-thinking, and innovative Clinical Department. Regular clinical supervision, peer support groups, appraisal, and support with revalidation are available, along with generous CPD time and annual leave. Key duties will include:

  1. Work with the Service Clinical Director and Operational Director to ensure good integrated governance, effectiveness, and best practice within the service.
  2. Provide clinical leadership to Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, and IPs to inform and influence clinical culture, quality, standards, and implementation of clinical models.
  3. Implement a robust healthcare and wellbeing assessment process. Deliver health promotion and harm reduction interventions in a person-centred manner (e.g., safer sex, contraception, nutrition, and healthy living), and ensure Needle and Syringe Protocols adhere to the Humankind national minimum standards.
  4. Prescribe medication for service users requiring alcohol community detoxification/Opiate Replacement Therapy in line with Humankind medicine management policies and governance procedures.
  5. Coordinate and participate in home visits for those whose health prohibits them from attending services.
  6. Manage, mentor, coach, and ensure the development of staff reporting to you.
  7. Contribute to the maintenance of service user clinical databases.

About you...

  • Qualified General or Psychiatric Nurse with current NMC PIN.
  • Experience at a senior level working with clients who use substances.
  • Experience assessing clients and generating prescriptions to meet clinical and psychosocial needs according to best practice and organisational policy.
  • Experience of carrying out general healthcare including BBV, phlebotomy, health promotion/harm reduction interventions, advice, and information.
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle are preferred but not essential.
