Job summary: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Lead Nurse to join our friendly, well-organised, forward thinking practice. We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our Nursing team to provide a high quality service to the practice patients as well as working effectively with other agencies.

Main duties of the job: Working in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct, the post-holder will lead and develop the practice nursing team in the provision of assessment, treatment, screening, health education services and advice to patients. Ensure the nursing team deliver a high standard of care to the patients of the surgery.

About us: Lofthouse Surgery and The Manse is a busy practice working across two sites with over 11,500 patients in Lofthouse and Rothwell. Our team consists of 6 GP partners, 2 salaried GP's. We have an experienced nursing team consisting of 3 Practice Nurses and 3 HCA's.

Job responsibilities:

  • Management responsibilities: Enable the nursing team to work effectively and provide a high-quality service to patients and to work effectively with other agencies.
  • Clinical responsibilities: Lead the introduction and use of technical and specialist nursing treatments for patients with complex healthcare needs.
  • Management of chronic disease: Diagnosis, monitoring, and development of individual management plans; agreeing these as appropriate with the patient and other health professionals.

Person Specification:

  • Experience: Minimum 4 years post-registration experience, At least 2 years recent primary care nursing, Clinical supervision training and experience.
  • Qualifications: Registered NMC Nurse, Post graduate diploma or degree in adult nursing (or working towards), Diploma in chronic disease management.
  • Clinical Skills and Knowledge: Wound care/removal of sutures and staples, ECG's, Venepuncture, New Patient Medicals, Chaperone Procedure.
