Job summary

Assystem is a key nuclear engineering firm involved in decommissioning, waste management, and life extension projects in the UK. The role focuses on providing authoritative waste characterization advice and producing documentation for decommissioning programs.

You will review and prepare waste plans, inventories and technical reports, and act as a primary contact with clients, potentially on-site. The ideal candidate has an engineering degree and strong regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in nuclear engineering or related field.
• Strong understanding of nuclear science, radioactive materials and waste management principles.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
• Effective communication is crucial for collaboration with professionals and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with regulations and standards for nuclear waste management.

Responsibilities

• Provide waste and characterization input to bids and proposals.
• Articulate durations and costs for planned work.
• Lead best available technique and optioneering studies.
• Be primary contact with customers and possibly seconded to their organization on-site.
• Provide training and coaching to staff and contractors.
• Ensure value to the business through resource management and BAT implementation.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Data Quality Objectives in characterization.
