Job description

Join to apply for the Lead Midwife for Bereavement role at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking an exceptional midwife to become our Bereavement Lead Midwife. The role involves being part of the maternity and neonatal senior leadership team, leading on individualized care for families, and supporting our teams to deliver highly effective care. The post holder will contribute to guidelines, pathways, care delivery, and service design, informed by the National Bereavement pathway.

Essential skills include exceptional communication, compassionate leadership, a commitment to education and collaboration, and a drive for improvement through listening and engagement.

Interviews will be held in person at one of our Trust sites only; remote interviews are not available. The validity of your Nursing and Midwifery Council PIN will be checked before shortlisting; inaccuracies will prevent progression.

You will be an autonomous practitioner, promoting best practices and high standards within maternity services, engaging in governance, audits, and reports for service improvement. You will empower staff in their professional development and liaise with the MDT and stakeholders to ensure optimal care, always centering the experience of families.
