Job summary

Pragmatic Semiconductor in Durham is seeking a PVD Process Engineer to lead metal-oxide PVD development and sustainment for high-volume manufacturing. You will own process windows, drive improvements, and mentor a small deposition team.

The role requires deep PVD expertise, ALD/CVD awareness, and strong collaboration across engineering, reliability, and equipment teams in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Degree or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Six Sigma / Lean certification beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Own metal-oxide PVD process development, qualification, and production tooling.
• Define and optimise process windows for metal-oxide stacks in device integration.
• Lead root-cause investigations for excursions and drift related to PVD film properties.
• Drive SPC implementation and interpretation for PVD parameters and film metrology.
• Maintain change control documentation for process changes and equipment modifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align PVD film performance with process flow.
