Job description

The Lead Mental Health Practitioner role focuses on the effective coordination and delivery of the Supported Self-Help Service.

SupportedSelf Help is a guided self-help programme developed by Mind, designed to meetthe needs of people who are experiencing mild to moderate mental healthproblems. The role will involve working from various community venues within Derbyshireand Derby City, delivering the Supported Self-Help programme, workingproactively with individuals to support them via a facilitated self-helpapproach.

Main duties of the job

The role focuses on direct client work, offering guided self-help support to individuals experiencing early signs of mental health distress, such as anxiety, depression, stress, or bereavement. The successful candidate will manage a caseload, guide clients through structured support programmes, and ensure appropriate signposting to external resources where needed. They'll also collect and analyse data to monitor service delivery and outcomes, contributing to service development through user feedback and operational insight.

The Lead Mental Health Practitioner role also provides line management support for a Mental Health Practitioner, providing direction, assigning caseloads, supporting with safeguarding issues, and ensuring effective case management in collaboration with the Services Lead.

Job responsibilities

MainDuties and Responsibilities

1)Toaccurately and efficiently manage all administration processes associated with thedelivery of the Supported Self-Help Service.

2)Toplay an integral part in delivering an effective service to meet set targets,with support from the Services Lead.

3)Toestablish positive client engagement and input, as well as being involved inpromoting general aspects of wellbeing.

4)Tomonitor service delivery, producing reports and collecting and recording dataas required.

5)Tobe responsible for a caseload of Supported Self-Help clients.

6)Towork with people to overcome early signs of mental health distress such asanxiety, depression, stress, and bereavement.

7)Tofollow a set programme, providing support via a facilitated self-help model,including signposting individuals to further support where required.

8)Toprovide feedback on the performance of the service, and any comments fromservice users, alongside any suggestions for alternate delivery options.

9)Toprovide line management support for the Mental Health Practitioner, includingguidance/advice, with support from the Services Lead where needed.

10) To assign a caseload for theMental Health Practitioner, and ensure their caseload is managed effectively,with support from the Services Lead.

11)Toprovide support and guidance to the Mental Health Practitioner regarding clientrisk and any safeguarding concerns, with close support from the Services Lead.

12) To seek opportunities to promoteand publicise the service within agreed locations and communities.

13) To support with triallingdifferent approaches to service delivery, in a variety of locations, whilstensuring the quality of the service is not compromised.

14) To build and maintain positiverelationships with key partners, including referrers, community venues, localsupport services, other VCSE organisations, and local communities.

15) To keep abreast of treatments,therapies, policy, legislation, and local services relating to the SupportedSelf-Help service and mental wellbeing.

16) To ensure that the Supported Self-Helpservice is delivered in line with operational policies and procedures,including in relation to safeguarding, equal opportunities and health andsafety.

17) To capture and record allrequired data on individuals being supported, in an accurate, timely manner.Ensuring all referrals go through the appropriate system and to manage the CMS(Charity Log) processes efficiently to draw down referrals.

18) To ensure service delivery meetsorganisational values and standards and is compliant with relevant regulatoryframeworks (e.g., GDPR).

19) To attend programme workshopsand meetings, contributing to the learning and development of the programme.

20)Tocarry out any other tasks as reasonably requested by the Services Lead or othermanagers of Derbyshire Mind, as may be required from time to time, within thecontext of the Supported Self-Help Service.

PersonalDevelopment

1.To undergo any training relevant to the role eitherinternally or externally, most importantly the supported self-help trainingprovided by national Mind.

2. To actively participate in regular supervisionsessions and team meetings.

3.To participate in Personal Development plans and to undertaketraining and development as identified within these discussions.

General

1.To always maintain a professional and confidential approachto work.

2.To work in line with Derbyshire Mind policies, procedures, codes,and guidance, including in relation to health and safety, confidentiality,safeguarding, data protection and equal opportunities.

3.Toactively promote the aims and principles of Derbyshire Mind and take part inany Derbyshire Mind activities as directed.

4.Tomaintain the confidentiality of any information gained during employment withDerbyshire Mind.

5.Thepost holder will be required to travel across Derby and Derbyshire, and to beflexible in their approach to working from our office or home asappropriate/required.

6. Thepost requires flexible working, which may include some evening or weekend workon occasion.

Thisrole description may be subject to joint review from time to time between thepost holder and Derbyshire Mind.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Experience of providing mental health/wellbeing services to clients.
  • Knowledge of common mental health presentations and of the issues relating to supporting people with a range of mental health and emotional wellbeing issues.
  • Experience of managing staff or volunteers.
  • Experience of using a range of computer software packages and programmes, including Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Experience of using communication systems including email, internet, databases, and social media networks.
  • A good knowledge of safeguarding considerations, risk assessments and health and safety.
  • Experience of using a Client Management System (CMS) such as Charity Log, Views or similar.
  • Personal experience of mental health problems.
Qualifications
  • Educated to a good standard and/or at least two years. relevant working experience. English and Mathematics at GCSE Grade C or equivalent.
  • Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
